How to set up a VPN connection using Windows 7 Professional

One of the way I know through which Non US residents can still buy things on US websites that block foreign IP addresses is by getting a US VPN service. A US VPN service will allow the person whos may be visiting from Nigeria to be able to access US websites by simply setting up a connection that will change his IP address to a US IP.

One can do this by first of all subscribing for a US VPN service and afterwards, he will be given tools needed to change his IP whenever he wants to visit that restricted US website.

I normally get my VPN service from WorldVPN and they normally give me 3 things which I use to setup a VPN connection on my Windows laptop and they are 1. Server address 2. Username and 3. A password.

The next step will be going to my control panel and setting a VPN connection using the provided details and afterwards I will be able to change my IP when visiting websites I'm normally restricted from visiting from Nigeria.

How to do it

- Subscribe for a VPN service and receive your connection details by email

- You will be given a Server address, a Username and a Password to connect to your VPN account anytime you are connected to the internet and want to change your ip address The server address could be 100.222.040.44, username could be "usd440" and password could be "change"

- Go to controlpanel > network and internet > network and sharing center > setup a new connection or network >

- Click to connect to a workplace or Setup a dialup or VPN

- Choose to create a connection

- When asked how you want to connect, choose to use your existing internet connection

- Enter the internet server address: e.g. 1.55.33.444 i.e It should be the server address given to you.

- Enter the destination name e.g. Worldvpn
Click on next

- Enter the username and password that was also given to you by email

- Ensure you are already connected to the internet

- Then, Click the connect button to test if it is working

If it connects then it's working and your ip address has changed. You can even confirm that you ip has changed by asking Google
