In the past, it was really hard trying to use any Naira debit Mastercard on US websites like Amazon but lately, I've noticed that Naira Mastercards are opening up gradually to them and I just want to share with you guys on how I was able to use mine for making a quick payment on Amazon.

I used to think that one has to visit a GTBank branch physically or get a token first before being able to make online payments with a Naira Mastercard. Getting a Naira Mastercard from GTbank is quite easy as all one needs to do is at least have a savings account with them. I've had my Naira debit Mastercard for a while now but I've not really used it for any other thing other than on ATMs and P.O.S. machines. It's even hard using your Naira Mastercard on sites like Quickteller and so I was wondering what other sites or online platforms I could use the card on so that it might at least be of more use to me. Well, I decided to try out making a Payment on Amazon today and it was accepted.

What's the trick? How did I do it? Well, I Simply added my Naira Mastercard details to my Amazon account and chose the currency as USD rather than Naira. I used it to send a gift card to myself by email and it was immediately sent.

I'm already a long time shopper at Amazon and normally made payments using a Visa card which were issued by different banks and in both Naira and USD. The USD visa card worked well for a while but I later switched to using Naira Visa cards but I've been having problems with using a Naira Mastercard fro a while until today. I later broke the jinx when I used a UBA Naira Mastercard and now I'm also using a GTBank Naira Mastercard.

The Naira Mastercard I used is one I got from GTBank and it's basically a debit card that's linked to a Naira savings account. So I tried using it to order for one of the easiest things one can buy on AMazon - A Gift card by email. I sent it to myself and it was sent. Before that, I had to first add the Mastercard to my Amazon account and when it came to making payment, I chose the card currency as USD rather than Naira, the same strategy I used for my UBA Naira Mastercard.

You can buy a gift card on AMazon from here. You can also easily get a Naira Mastercard from GTbank by applying for it at the bank after opening an account.

So, Naira cards are opening up to sites like Amazon and Amazon doesn't reject such cards also even if they came with a Nigerian billing address.

About 5 mins after my order on Amazon with a GTBank Naira Mastercard, I got an sms and email alert from GTbank that the Naira equivalent of $10 has been authorized for the transaction done on Amazon. It was just a notification of the successful transaction.

If you however want to buy physical stuff on Amazon and hope to get it shipped to Nigeria, just make use of a US shipping company for that.
