I've been receiving a lot of questions on my blog about how much it really costs to use my US shipping service to send their goods from USA to Nigeria? How much will it cost per kg? How much will it cost per pound? How much does it cost to send 20kg by DHL, Fedex or UPS to Nigeria from the USA? Many of these people would want to buy things on US stores like eBay, Amazon, Walmart and others and want to calculate their total costs in order to know in advance how much they should be budgeting. Well, I've done a bit of research and decided to list my findings below.

The first thing is that you should sign up for a membership plan which can be a basic, Premium or Premium+mail membership plan.

UPS Expedited: USD 459.72(for 20 lbs), USD 280.87(for 10 lbs), USD 141.80(for 5 lbs), USD 72.66(for 1 lbs)

Cost of Basic Membership: $10 one time setup fee.
Cost of Premium membership: $7 per month plus a $20 one time setup fee.

If you are going to use the US shipping service only once per year, then it's better to just go for the basic membership plan else if you are using it multiple times the Premium membership plan saves you more.

As you can see from the above listed shipping costs, the shipping cost per kg or lb tends to reduce as you ship more in weight than if you shipped less. So you tend to save more f you ship 20 lbs rather than 10 lbs or 5 lbs. While 5 lbs costs $107.39 with premium membership, 20 lbs would mathematically cost 4 times more i.e.$400+ but it really costs just $313.46 using UPS Worldwide saver and $240 with DHL express. So, you can save more per kg if you ship more in weight rather than less hence it's more economical to shop in bulk, consolidate your package and ship all at once.
